Large Format Photography Challenge Video Clips. Duration : 9.08 Mins.
Part of a work in progress, this shows how someone who has never used film tackles an event using a 5x4 MPP camera in some extreme conditions. I'm interested in the history and progression of photographic techniques and how the discipline of a small number of exposures contrasts with the ability to shoot hundreds of images with a modern digital camera. I'll be filming more 'episodes' during the year. A big thank you to Stuart for valiantly taking up the challenge, and to Steve for his assistance.

He participated in a number of expeditions to Antarctica and served as an official photographer with Australian forces during both world wars. His artistic style produced many memorable images but he also used staged scenes, composites and photographic manipulation for which he has been criticised on the grounds that it diminished the documentary value of his work. Hurley was the third of five children to parents Edward and Margaret Hurley and was raised Glebe, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. He ran away from home at the age of 14 to work on the Sydney docks. When he was 17 he bought his first camera, a 15 shilling Kodak Box Brownie which he paid for at the rate of a shilling per week. He taught himself photography and set himself up in the postcard business. At the age of 25, in 1910, Hurley learned that Australian explorer Douglas Mawson was planning an expedition to Antarctica; Hurley cornered Mawson on a train and asked to be made expedition ...
Multiplex EasyStar modified for aerial video and photography Tube. Duration : 3.52 Mins.
I prepared this Multiplex EasyStar for aerial video with a better quality camera than the FlyCamOne² V2. After some desk research I evaluated the Kodak Zi8 (bit.ly as my new onboard camera for this application. In order to have better control over the plane I applied some modifications to it: Camera test of the Kodak Zi8 with this plane: www.youtube.com 1) Ailerons The dimensions are 300 x 45 mm and the distance to the fuselage is 200 mm. I dremeled the hinge directly into the wing. The connection of the wing servos is done the same way as Multiplex does it for the EasyGlider Pro 2) Rudder I increased the rudder control surface based on reports in various forum threads about the lack of authority with the standard rudder size. It's easier to realise it right from the beginning. I dimensioned it 45 mm wide and dremeled it into the horizontal stabiliser 3) Conversion to brushless motor This motor is very powerful and fits well. I soldered extensions to the wires and cut a channel to pass the cable across the fuselage. I hat to shorten the 6x4" propeller by about 4 mm and re-balance it to avoid that it touches the fuselage. 4) Equipment for night flying This is a basic equipment and I did one night flight with it, but it's not good enough and I have to change the concept. Here is a source of inspiration for other modifications of the Mulitplex EasyStar: www.mpx-easystar.de The setup of the plane is as follows - Receiver: Spektrum AR7000 (large range) - Motor: HXT 2835 (380S ...
